The A.P.E.S (Hospital Pharmacists’ Association (QC)) Annual Conference 2008 took place from April 6th to April 8th in Mont Tremblant, Québec.
The conference began Sunday night with a red-carpet awards presentation to winners for 2007. This year, the PPC Award for Innovation in Clinical Practice was awarded to six hospital pharmacists specialized in HIV from the McGill University Health Centre: Nancy Sheehan, Niamh Higgins, Marie Courchesne, Josiann Gauthier, Annick Boulerice and Benoît Lemire.
On Monday and Tuesday a wide variety of presentations and workshops unfolded, covering topics from mental health in pregnancy to the progress made towards the new Quebec Personal Health File System anticipated in 2010. This year, PPC had the pleasure of presenting Mr. Pierre Joron from Aon Consulting, who gave an insightful presentation on employee attraction and retention – a very pertinent subject given the shortage of hospital pharmacists in Quebec.
Throughout the conference, residents from throughout Quebec presented 29 excellent posters. We wish them best of luck in the upcoming university Poster Day presentations!
Next year’s A.P.E.S. Annual Conference will be held in Quebec City.
